Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Nick Fury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Greg Stan!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fury stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fury wants it to stay on the feet.
Greg Stan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stan drives through with a takedown into Fury's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Stan throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Stan working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Stan works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Stan thows a huge punch but Fury dodges it nicely.

Stan wants to control but Fury is keeping him busy.

Stan is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Fury is looking to improve his position.
Stan is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Fury reverses the position - he's now on top in Stan's guard.

Fury is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Stan is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Stan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fury's waist but Fury gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stan off to one side.

Stan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fury sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Stan somewhat.

Stan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Stan tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Fury defends well and Stan ends up having to push Fury into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Fury is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Stan swings wildly with an uppercut but Fury uses good head movement to avoid it.

Stan drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Fury gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Stan has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Stan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Fury prevents a takedown attempt there.
Stan jumps guard but Fury stands there with Stan around his waist. Stan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Fury tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Stan was well out of range. Poor timing from Fury.
Fury lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Fury counters with a left to the body.
Fury looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Stan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Stan is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Fury's half guard.

Stan closes the distance and clinches up with Fury, looking for a takedown. Stan pushes Fury against the cage but Fury circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Stan swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Fury tries to move into range but Stan moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Stan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fury's guard.
Stan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stan tries to get the hooks in deep but Fury pushed the leg off.
Fury rolls, trying to escape but Stan keeps control of the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stan scores with punches from the back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Nick Fury will probably get the nod.

Fury is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
Fury might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Stan tries to score with some ground and pound. Fury controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Stan throws a strike aimed at the side of Fury's head but Fury avoids it well.

Stan seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Stan thows a huge punch but Fury dodges it nicely.
Fury is staying active underneath Stan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
