Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vladimir Zenin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Knatte Grep (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zenin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Helloween - Power. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Vladimir Zenin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Knatte Grep!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zenin moves into the clinch.
I was talking to Zenin's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Grep breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Zenin rushes Grep and presses him up against the cage.
Grep working aggressively here.

Zenin turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Zenin manages to end up in side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Grep is letting Zenin control him for a moment.
Zenin advances to full mount.

Zenin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Grep is looking to escape.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zenin sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Vladimir Zenin.
Zenin tries to close the distance and clinch but Grep swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Grep counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Zenin is on top in guard.

Grep is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Zenin defends well.

Grep working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Zenin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Zenin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Zenin wants to take a breather but Grep is having none of it.
Grep tries to roll over but Zenin keeps him under control.

Grep fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Zenin sprawls well initially but Grep persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Grep throws a good cross that connects.
A punch lands to the side of Zenin 's head but he takes it in his stride.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Zenin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Grep avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Zenin cracks Grep with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Zenin can't find room to land a body shot as Grep controls the action.
Grep blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Grep misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Zenin scores with a shoulder strike.

Zenin is working for takedown but Grep is calmly controlling the position for now.

Zenin lands a right hand that snaps the head of Grep backwards.
Grep tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Zenin smiles and moves away.

Zenin doesn't manage to clinch there - Grep circles away.

A slow jab from Zenin misses its intended target.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Grep enables Zenin to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Grep manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Zenin wants to control from the top but Grep keeps moving.

Zenin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Grep has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Zenin has managed to get both his arms back between Grep's legs - danger averted.

Zenin is pushing down on Grep's leg trying to pass to half guard. Grep is fighting to maintain full guard but Zenin has managed to sneak the leg through.
Zenin moves into full mount! Grep won't be happy about that!
Zenin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are battling for position here. Grep manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Zenin is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Nice uppercut lands for Grep. That snapped Zenin's head back.

Zenin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Grep swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Zenin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Grep fights it off and pushes away nicely.
