Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergey Gribov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivan Lavronenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lavronenko is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ex-Sektor Gaza - 'Dopilsya'. Ivan Lavronenko acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the ring.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Sergey Gribov!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Ivan Lavronenko!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gribov slaps away a takedown attempt from Lavronenko, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Lavronenko scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Gribov is trying to get back to half guard.
Lavronenko advances to full mount.
Gribov is looking to improve his position but Lavronenko isn't that keen on the idea.
Gribov has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Lavronenko tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Lavronenko can't control as he wanted to and Gribov manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
Lavronenko takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Gribov is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lavronenko pulls his head out easily.
Lavronenko seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gribov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Gribov wants to get back to full guard but Lavronenko has mounted him!

Lavronenko takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Gribov is desperately trying to improve his position but Lavronenko has a good base and remains in mount.
Gribov wants to hold on but Lavronenko pushes him away.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Gribov is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
You can see the frustration on Gribov's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

I would not like to be Gribov right now.
Gribov breaks Lavronenko's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Gribov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Gribov wants to pass the guard but Lavronenko is keeping the position.

Lavronenko bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Gribov's guard.
Lavronenko stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gribov swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gribov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lavronenko doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lavronenko manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lavronenko wants to pass the guard but Gribov is defending well.
Lavronenko uses his free foot to push down on Gribov's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gribov.
Lavronenko is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Gribov is in real trouble.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Lavronenko's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Lavronenko feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Lavronenko isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Gribov stacks Lavronenko on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Gribov!
