The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawson lands a slapping body shot.
Lawson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Hovimaki keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Lawson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hovimaki wants to break free but Lawson has control.

Lawson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lawson tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Hovimaki counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hovimaki has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Lawson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hovimaki manages to avoid it.
Lawson tries to grapple but his opponent circles
enabling Hovimaki to counter with a crisp jab.

Lawson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hovimaki circles away from the clinch attempt
and Hovimaki counters with a stiff right hand.

Lawson is rocked!
Lawson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lawson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hovimaki's waist but Hovimaki gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lawson off to one side.
Hovimaki leaves Lawson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Lawson!

and Hovimaki counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Hovimaki circles away from the clinch attempt
letting Hovimaki counter with a right hand.
Lawson is still on wobbly legs! Can Hovimaki finish him?
A shot to the body from Lawson misses
and Hovimaki counters with a big right hand! Oh Lawson is in trouble here! Hovimaki follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
