The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Slone closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rijkaard did well to prevent Slone getting side control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Slone stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Rijkaard to get to his feet.

Slone manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Rijkaard on his heels. He'll look to pass Rijkaard's guard now, I'm sure.

Slone is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Slone lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Slone thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Slone got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rijkaard has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Slone has managed to get both his arms back between Rijkaard's legs - danger averted.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Slone accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
