PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between William Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Philipps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Philipps has chosen Ice, Ice Baby (Bob Synclair Club Mix) as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Philipps!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Philipps tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Chavez counters with a shoot takedown. Philipps fights it but they end up in guard.
Chavez has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Philipps is proving hard to escape from.
Chavez's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Chavez postures up.
Chavez tries to free his leg and advance position but Philipps is retaining full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A head kick misses from Philipps.
Philipps throws a head kick but Chavez moves out of range.
Philipps tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Chavez manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Philipps avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Philipps enables Chavez to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Philipps manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
William Chavez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Philipps not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chavez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
