Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frito Lei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Ruent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pete Ruent will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
23 - 65 - 3, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frito Lei!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
19 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pete Ruent!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lei throws a head kick that misses
and Ruent counters with an outside leg kick.
A head kick by Lei misses
and Ruent counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lei's knee momentarily.
Lei tries to clinch up
and Ruent counters with a left to the body.
Lei looks to land a combination but Ruent avoids it well.
Lei definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Lei looks to throw a body kick
and Ruent connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
A telegraphed right hand from Lei misses the target.
Ruent avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ruent throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lei ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ruent moves away.
Lei darts in trying to clinch
and Ruent counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Ruent lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Lei tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ruent swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Ruent counters with a stiff right hand.
Frito Lei is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ruent scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Lei tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Ruent counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Lei is rocked!
Lei moves to clinch but Ruent breaks away
and Ruent counters with a right hand that sends Lei tumbling to the canvas! Can Ruent finish him? He dives into Lei's guard looking to do just that!
Oh Lei is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Ruent advances to half guard.
Ruent slows the pace down in half guard.
Ground and pound from Ruent.
Ruent stalling.
Lei wants to get back to his feet.
Nice strikes from Ruent there.

Ruent is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ruent is working for a submission of some sort.
Ruent seems to be looking for submissions.
Lei seems to have got his legs back now.
Ruent trying to control the action but Lei is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lei tries to kick Ruent off but Ruent keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Lei has hold of Ruent's hands but Ruent slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Ruent trying to mount his opponent but Lei defends it.
Ruent thows a huge punch but Lei dodges it nicely.

Ruent is taking a breather. Lei says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Ruent trying to pass the guard but Lei defending well.
Ruent is working for a kimura but Lei is defending it quite comfortably.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Lei might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ruent tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lei knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Ruent wants to take a breather but Lei is having none of it.
Ruent is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ruent is stalling here. Lei is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Ruent seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Lei has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Ruent tries to improve position but can't.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Ruent is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Lei wants to stand but Ruent has his arm trapped.
Ruent can't do much from the bottom here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pete Ruent dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
A combination from Lei does no damage.
Lei wants to clinch
and Ruent counters with an inside leg kick.
Ruent lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Lei misses with a leg kick
and Ruent counters with a series of strikes. Lei will be more careful next time no doubt.
Ruent is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Ruent feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Lei wants to get back to his feet but Ruent is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Ruent stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lei swivels though and keeps the full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lei can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ruent controls the pace.
Ruent trying to control the position from guard on top but Lei is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Ruent stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lei swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ruent sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lei's guard.
Ruent is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Lei is just riding it out for now. Ruent eventually gives up the hold.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ruent in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Lei tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Ruent!
