Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Leer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jabari Jelani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jabari Jelani is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Leer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jabari Jelani!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leer fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jelani avoids it really well and circles away.
Leer misses with a takedown
and Jelani counters with an outside leg kick.
Jelani looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Leer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jelani avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Leer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jelani as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Leer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jelani throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Leer's waist but Leer gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jelani off to one side.
Leer tries to clinch up.
Jelani slips under a jab from Leer.
Leer tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jelani defends well and Leer ends up having to push Jelani into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Leer drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jelani pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jelani slips a straight right by Leer.

Leer fails to land with a series of punches.
Leer is looking to clinch but Jelani is avoiding it.

Leer pushes Jelani up against the cage in a clinch.

Leer manages to break the clinch.
Mike Leer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A head kick misses from Leer.

Leer has taken the fight to the clinch.
Leer changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jelani fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Leer scores with a kick to the midsection.

Leer misses with a left hand

and Jelani counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jelani passes into half guard.
Jelani passes the guard and advances to mount!
Leer is looking to improve his position but Jelani isn't that keen on the idea.
Leer wants to hold on but Jelani pushes him away.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Leer is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Leer tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Leer sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Leer looks like he's trying to stand up.

Leer manages to escape and get back to his feet!
A clash of legs there as Leer blocks the low kick.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Leer has a takedown stuffed.
Leer tries for a takedown but Jelani sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Leer misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jelani.

Leer throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jelani was covering up waiting for the punch and Leer finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Leer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jelani swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jelani looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mike Leer will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Leer shoots in looking for a takedown. Jelani tries to sprawl out of it but Leer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jelani manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jelani throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Leer counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Leer is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jelani to keep the fight standing.
Leer goes for a takedown attempt but Jelani pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Leer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Leer looks to land a combination but Jelani avoids it well.
Leer tries to clinch there but Jelani circles away.
Leer looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Leer here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Jelani thuds a left hand into Leer's body.

Jelani lands a left and a right that send Leer crashing to the mat, dazed. Jelani thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Mike Leer has been cut.

Leer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jelani is stalking Leer. Leer circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Jelani, and it's lights out! Leer really payed the price for that rookie mistake.
