Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Haigh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Mercer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Haigh comes to the cage accompanied by Macabre - Acid Bath Vampire. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Haigh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alex Mercer!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Ivan Kurochkin and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice jab there from Mercer.

Haigh is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mercer's half guard.

Haigh is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mercer doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Haigh.

Haigh is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mercer defends it well.
Haigh wants to free his trapped foot but Mercer is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Haigh misses with an uppercut. Mercer saw that one coming.
Mercer throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Mercer.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mercer thuds his right hand into Haigh's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Haigh uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Mercer.
A nice combination there by Haigh.
Haigh shoots in looking for a takedown. Mercer tries to sprawl out of it but Haigh keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mercer manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mercer lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Mercer takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Mercer throws out a loose jab but Haigh uses good head movement to avoid it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Haigh is looking to pass into half guard but Mercer pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Mercer is in guard.

Mercer would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Mercer must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that John Haigh will probably get the nod.

Mercer stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Mercer wants it to stay on the feet.
Haigh shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mercer pinned against the cage. Mercer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Haigh counters with a two punch combo.

Mercer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Haigh moves away.

Mercer throws a looping overhand right but Haigh ducks down to avoid it.
Alex Mercer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mercer throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Haigh looks to land a combination but Mercer avoids it well.

Mercer throws a series of punches but Haigh moves out of range.

Haigh shoots in and drives through. Mercer sprawls well.

Mercer fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Haigh has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Haigh lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mercer circles away quickly and effectively.

Alex Mercer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Mercer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mercer and Haigh are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Mercer throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Haigh into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Mercer knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Alex Mercer!
A determined Alex Mercer didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
