PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hoyt Trujillo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tilly Tesup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tilly Tesup told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Trujillo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tesup moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Tesup tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Trujillo counters by moving into the clinch.
Tesup tries to circle away but Trujillo has him pinned against the cage.

Trujillo escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Trujillo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Tesup counters with a one-two to the body.
Tesup looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Trujillo is fending him off so far but Tesup persists. Nope, Trujillo circles away and we're back to standing.
Tesup doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Trujillo counters with a left and a right that stings Tesup.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tesup shoots in for a takedown but Trujillo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Hoyt Trujillo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tilly Tesup.
Tesup doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Trujillo counters with a single leg into guard. Tesup didn't expect that.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Tesup controls Trujillo momentarily but Trujillo frees himself.
Trujillo missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Trujillo drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Trujillo jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Tesup is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Trujillo passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Trujillo tries to stand but Tesup is controlling his head.
Tesup is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Trujillo controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tesup takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Trujillo tries to stand but Tesup is controlling his head.
Trujillo lands a nice forearm strike.

Tesup is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Trujillo's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Trujillo is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Tesup looks like he's trying to stand up.
Tesup is looking for a sweep. Trujillo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Trujillo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tesup is just riding it out for now. Trujillo eventually gives up the hold.
Tesup has a hand on Trujillo's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Trujillo takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Trujillo lands a couple of good shots and Tesup has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Tesup is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Tesup trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
I really don't envy Tesup right now.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Trujillo misses with a hook to the body
and Tesup counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Tesup displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Trujillo.

and Trujillo moves into the clinch.

Trujillo has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Tesup regains guard immediately.
Tesup utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Tesup wants to hit a switch here but Trujillo passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Tesup there!
Trujillo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Trujillo wants to finish this one by submission but Tesup is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Trujillo.

Tesup is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Tesup is desperately trying to improve his position but Trujillo has a good base and remains in mount.

Trujillo looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Tesup wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
I really don't envy Tesup right now.
Trujillo controls the position.

Tesup controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Trujillo trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Tesup doesn't escape.

Trujillo is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Tesup has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Trujillo has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Tesup taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Trujillo doesn't care though - he's delighted!
