Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raijin Kage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Clay Matthews!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matthews moves out of range of the body kick from Kage.
Nice takedown defense from Matthews. No joy for Kage on that attempt.
Kage has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Matthews finds it's way round the side to connect with Kage's head.
Kage misses with a head kick.
Kage pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Matthews misses with a head kick.
Matthews takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Kage looks to land a body kick but Matthews moved away.
Kage tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kage throws a head kick that misses.
Kage tries to move into range but Matthews moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
A slow jab from Matthews misses its intended target.
Kage throws a head kick that misses.
Matthews lands with a hook. Kage tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Matthews tries to land a front kick but Kage steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Kage explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Matthews fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kage avoids it really well and circles away.

Matthews closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Matthews prevents Kage from improving his position.
Matthews throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kage is looking for a sweep. Matthews is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Matthews thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kage's head.
Kage tries to get to full guard but Matthews has control of the leg.
Matthews is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Kage keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Kage is looking for a sweep. Matthews is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Matthews looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Kage has hold of Matthews's hands but Matthews slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kage gets full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kage is on top in guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Kage prevents Matthews from getting back to his feet.
Kage loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Matthews wants to stand up but Kage is controlling him.
We've been hearing good reports from Kage's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Kage trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Kage is working hard here to advance position.
Matthews wants to stand but Kage is controlling the position.

Matthews manages to escape and get back to his feet.
