The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guthrie closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lopes's guard.

Lopes had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Guthrie defends it easily.

Lopes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Guthrie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lopes has managed to get both his arms back between Guthrie's legs - danger averted.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Newton Guthrie.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Guthrie, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
