The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makarenko throws a nice head kick!
It looks like Paul Ballenger has been cut.
Ballenger takes a kick to the side of the head.
Ballenger throws a shot to the body.
Ballenger throws a low kick but it's checked well by Makarenko.
Makarenko drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ballenger misses with a body punch
and Makarenko counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Ballenger is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Ballenger pivots, looking for a leg kick but Makarenko is out of range and Ballenger settles back down.
Ballenger dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
An inside leg kick from Ballenger misses.
Makarenko lands a front kick.
Ballenger takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Makarenko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Makarenko lands with a slapping head kick.
Cyril Makarenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Makarenko jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Ballenger connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Makarenko momentarily.
Makarenko ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ballenger moves away.
Ballenger scores with a hook to the body. Makarenko takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Makarenko is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ballenger lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Makarenko is looking to close the distance but Ballenger sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Makarenko crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Makarenko is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
