Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rua's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Flo Rida- 54321. Burns has chosen Disturbed - Down with the Sickness as his entrance music. Brian Burns has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Rua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Burns!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns goes for a double leg but Rua avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rua continues to drive forward.
Rua working Burns over with knees to the body.
Rua with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Rua goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Rua lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Burns managing to block the knees to the body from Rua.
Rua trying to land knees to the body.
Rua utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rua tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Rua with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Rua lands a knee to the head.
Rua misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Burns.
Burns is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Rua throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rua throws an elbow that misses.
Burns wants to take the fight to the mat but Rua manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Jake Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Burns.
Rua is pressed up against the cage. Burns has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rua down to the mat. Rua avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
No luck for Burns with that takedown attempt.
No luck for Rua with that takedown attempt.
Rua misses with a few strikes there.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Burns is defended easily by Rua.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Burns.
A big left from Rua misses.
Rua dips to his left and cracks Burns with an uppercut!
Burns tries for a takedown but Rua sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Burns fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Burns dodges the punch combination from Rua.
Rua takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Rua misses with a two punch combination.
Rua looks to land a combination but Burns avoids it well.
Rua misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Burns avoids the body shot from Rua.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Burns shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rua finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Rua shoots in for a takedown but Burns shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Burns.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Burns tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Burns has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rua is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Burns in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Rua is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Brian Burns!
Brian Burns decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
