Nickolas Diaz struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.4lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nickolas Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McClelland gets the takedown into side control.
Diaz is not content to let McClelland control the position.
Diaz is looking to regain half guard here but McClelland keeps moving and retains side control.

McClelland is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Diaz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
You can see the frustration on Diaz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

McClelland is trying to get an arm triangle but Diaz is defending well.
Diaz tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, McClelland cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Diaz regains half guard.

Diaz is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McClelland pulls his head out easily.
We've been hearing good reports from McClelland's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

McClelland is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

McClelland wants to work for an arm triangle but Diaz is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

McClelland is trying for a kimura here. Diaz looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! McClelland wins by kimura!
