Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Riggs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lopez kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Vamos. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Derek Riggs!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riggs looks to land a right hand but Lopez moved out of range.
Lopez throws a nice inside leg kick.
Lopez throws a hook but Riggs avoids it easily.
Lopez throws a body punch but Riggs moves out of range.
Riggs throws a leg kick but Lopez sees it coming and moves out of range.
Riggs lands with a thumping leg kick.
Lopez misses with a hook to the body
and Riggs cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Riggs has a takedown stuffed.
Riggs takes a kick to the side of the head.
Riggs attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Riggs swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Miguel Lopez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Riggs throws a low kick, looking for Lopez's leg but Lopez calmly moves out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lopez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Riggs throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lopez sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Riggs throws a leg kick but Lopez moved away.
Riggs lands a nice shot that snaps Lopez's head back.
Riggs smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Lopez fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Riggs manages to avoid it.
Riggs shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lopez as he avoids it easily.

Lopez is looking for a sweep. Riggs is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Riggs thows a huge punch but Lopez dodges it nicely.
Lopez wants to improve his position but Riggs is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Riggs is looking to take a break and control but Lopez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Riggs thows a huge punch but Lopez dodges it nicely.

Riggs stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lopez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A close round but Derek Riggs will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Riggs dives in for a single leg takedown but Lopez sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Riggs lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Lopez backwards.
Riggs scores with a nice hook to the head.

Riggs's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Lopez misses with a punch on the inside.

Riggs breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Riggs changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lopez tries to avoid it but Riggs manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lopez to the ground. Lopez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Lopez throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Lopez connects with a right hand. Riggs shakes it off.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Lopez wants to get back to his feet but Riggs is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Derek Riggs is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Lopez bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Riggs's head backwards.

Lopez looks for the body kick but Riggs saw that one coming.

Lopez takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Lopez stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Lopez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Riggs is working away from the top position though.

Riggs with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Lopez tries to roll over but Riggs keeps him under control.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Derek Riggs wasn't active enough on the ground.
Riggs ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Lopez throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Derek Riggs comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Riggs has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
