PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ned Terry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrew Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ned Terry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrew Silva!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva swinging wildly here.
Silva leaves Terry with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Silva shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Terry eats them both and turns towards Silva to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.


It looks like Ned Terry has been cut.
Terry throws a right and a left that Silva avoids nicely.
Terry avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Terry swinging wildly here.
Silva swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Terry holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Terry gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Silva wants to get back to his feet but Terry is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Terry has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Silva is proving hard to escape from.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Terry trying to move into half guard but instead Silva has managed to sweep!
Silva landing with the ground and pound.
Terry preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Silva connects with a couple of short punches.

Terry escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Silva throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Terry might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Terry has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Silva landing with the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Silva wants to control from the top but Terry keeps moving.
Silva throws a big right hand that misses.
Silva trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Silva throws a strike but Terry rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Silva has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Terry has a takedown stuffed.
Terry shoots for a double leg takedown but Silva sprawls well. He's pushed Terry's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ned Terry. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Terry misses with a takedown attempt - Silva sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Terry lands with a hook. Silva tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Terry tries to clinch there but Silva circles away.
Silva lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Terry goes down and covers up as Silva starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Andrew Silva!
Andrew Silva took some time post fight to say the following; 'i know im the best fighter, that all i have to say'.
