The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Bruno Hogan and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hans throws a right hand that misses

and Nitschke counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Hans tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Nitschke lands a couple of digs.
Hans is trying to control the position but Nitschke postures up.

Nitschke trying to control the position from guard on top but Hans is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Hans is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Nitschke in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hans keeping moving, preventing Nitschke from controlling successfully.

Hans has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Nitschke can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Hans utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Nitschke trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Nitschke wants to control from the top but Hans keeps moving.

Nitschke engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Nitschke loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Nitschke is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Nitschke throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hans works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hans wants to sweep but no luck.
Nitschke working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hans's head.

Nitschke distracts Hans with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Nitschke landing with the ground and pound.
Nitschke is looking to work some ground and pound but Hans has wrist control.
Nitschke is in close to Hans's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Nitschke trying to control the position from guard on top but Hans is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nitschke content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Hans is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hans is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nitschke in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hans is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Hans seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nitschke does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hans looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Nitschke wants to improve his position but Hans is controlling well.

Nitschke is pressing down on Hans's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Hans trying to control but Nitschke is working from the bottom.
Nitschke looking to control but Hans passes into half guard.
Nitschke wants to control but Hans is keeping busy.
Nitschke keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Hans stalling.

Hans is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nitschke is just riding it out for now. Hans eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hans slips a nice elbow through Nitschke's hands, connecting with Nitschke's forehead.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nitschke tries to roll over but Hans keeps him under control.

Hans is trying for a kimura here. Nitschke looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Hans wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Super Hans!
Our winner, Super Hans, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
