Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Normand Chen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grayson Cameron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grayson Cameron will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Normand Chen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Grayson Cameron!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cameron leaves Chen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Chen closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cameron's guard.
Chen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Chen wants to control from the top but Cameron keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cameron is on top in guard.
Cameron controls from within his opponent's guard.
Chen controlling Cameron's posture.
Cameron missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Chen is working an open guard so Cameron takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Chen misses with a low kick.

Cameron clinches up with Chen and pushes him back against the cage.
Chen fails to pull guard.

Cameron pulls guard effortlessly.
Cameron manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Chen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Cameron looking to control but Chen is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Chen is looking to improve his position but Cameron isn't that keen on the idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Poor strikes thrown by Cameron there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Chen is working to get back to half guard.
Chen regains half guard.
Chen tries to get to full guard but Cameron has control of the leg.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Chen is defending against the submission attempts here by Cameron.

Cameron sitting and controlling from the half guard.
It looks like Cameron might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Chen is looking for a sweep. Cameron is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Grayson Cameron hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Cameron clinches up with Chen and pushes him back against the cage.
Cameron is working for takedown but Chen is calmly controlling the position for now.
Cameron prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Normand Chen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Chen looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Cameron tries to pull guard but Chen won't allow it.
Cameron is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Chen gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Cameron has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Chen avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Cameron pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cameron shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Chen pinned against the cage. Chen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Grayson Cameron will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Cameron avoids the head kick by Chen.
Chen shoots in looking for a takedown. Cameron tries to sprawl out of it but Chen keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cameron manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Cameron tries to score a power double leg takedown but Chen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cameron somewhat.

and Chen counters with a single leg into guard. Cameron didn't expect that.
Chen wants to stand but Cameron has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Cameron is controlling Chen's posture.
Cameron is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Chen is controlling him.
Cameron is breathing heavily.

Chen won't allow Cameron to sweep him here.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Cameron is trying hard to land a takedown here. Chen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Normand Chen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Grayson Cameron.

Cameron gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Chen to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Chen trying to control the position from guard on top but Cameron is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Chen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Cameron striking off his back but it's not causing Chen any problems.

We're going to have a standup here because Normand Chen wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Chen misses with a two punch combination.

Cameron closes the distance and clinches.
Chen stalls.
Cameron tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Chen smiles and moves away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cameron clinches.
Chen wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cameron jumps guard but Chen stands there with Cameron around his waist. Cameron gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Cameron goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Chen is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Chen misses with a knee strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chen gets underhooks to prevent Cameron's takedown attempt.

Chen gets control of Cameron's arms and successfully pulls guard. Chen will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Chen has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Chen is looking to stand back up but Cameron counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Chen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Normand Chen dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Chen shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Cameron keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Cameron is looking to control Chen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cameron avoid being mounted?
Cameron is positioning himself well to prevent Chen advancing to mount.
Cameron gets full guard.
Cameron looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cameron wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Chen manages to pass to side control.
Chen wants to pass the guard but Cameron is defending well.
Chen frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Cameron tries to buck Chen off but he can't manage it.
Cameron takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Chen with good strikes from the mount here!

Chen swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Cameron is now in Chen's guard. A big mistake from Chen there, giving up the dominant position!
Chen seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cameron would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Chen doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Cameron postures up.
Chen is looking to stand up but Cameron isn't so interested in that idea.
Chen is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Normand Chen wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Cameron lands a nice leg kick that just misses Chen's sensitive parts.
Horrible takedown by Cameron or perhaps it was just good defense by Chen which made him look bad.
Chen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Chen falls off balance throwing a combination

and Cameron holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Chen looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Cameron makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Cameron's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cameron throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Cameron enables Chen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cameron manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

And that's the end of the fight!
Normand Chen showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Chen has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
