The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santana throws a front kick aimed at Hendricks's knee but Hendricks avoids it well.
A head kick misses from Santana.
Santana pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hendricks shoots and misses

and Santana counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Santana is trying to control the action in half guard but Hendricks is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Hendricks is looking to improve his position.

Santana moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Hendricks.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hendricks seems a little lost for a moment, as Santana dominates the positioning.
Santana tries to stand but Hendricks is controlling his head.

Santana has hold of Hendricks's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Hendricks tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Santana cranks the arm and Hendricks screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Hendricks, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
