Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pat Small (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Samuel Rowan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rowan has chosen Anthrax - I Am The Law as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pat Small!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Samuel Rowan!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rowan closes the distance and clinches.
Rowan blocks an uppercut.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Rowan misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Small.
Small working hard to break the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Small.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Small creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Small goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Rowan unloads a knee to the mid-section. Small lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Small is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Rowan is defending well for now.

Small is looking to clinch but Rowan is avoiding it.
Small fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Rowan moves into the clinch successfully.

Rowan fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Rowan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Small lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Rowan misses the shot to the body.
Rowan needs to keep his hands up - Small had a free shot at his head there.
Rowan shoots in for a takedown but Small shows good takedown defense.
Rowan moves out of range as Small throws a body kick.
Pat Small is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rowan cracks Small with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Small tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rowan was well out of range. Poor timing from Small.
Small gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Small moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Small tests Rowan's chin there with a solid looking shot.

and Rowan counters with an inside leg kick.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Small closes the distance and clinches.
Rowan throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Small blocks it with crossed arms.
I was talking to Small's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rowan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Small just stands there and leans against the cage.
Rowan wants a takedown but no success here.
Pat Small has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Samuel Rowan.
Small wants to break free but Rowan has control.

Small struggles to land a body shot inside as Rowan controls his hands.

Rowan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Rowan dives in and grabs Small's left leg, looking for a takedown. Small pushes down on Rowan's head and hops out.

Small cracks Rowan with a right hand to the side of the head.

and Rowan counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Small thinking.
Small connects with a single shot there.
Rowan avoids the body shot from Small.
Rowan fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Small.

Rowan scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Small tries to close the distance and clinch but Rowan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rowan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

and Rowan counters with a low kick, right behind Small 's knee.

so Rowan counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rowan trying to move into half guard but instead Small has managed to sweep!

Small got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rowan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Small has managed to get both his arms back between Rowan's legs - danger averted.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Small has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rowan is proving hard to escape from.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Rowan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rowan.
Small stands and throws Rowan's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Small wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rowan keeps working.
Rowan sneaks back into half guard.

Rowan kicks Small off and gets back to his feet.
Small lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rowan backs up against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Small closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Rowan is rocked!
Small tries to clinch there but Rowan circles away.
A shot to the liver by Small. Beautiful body shot.
Small scores with a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Pat Small will probably get the nod.
That's time! Small's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Rowan shoots in for a double leg but Small sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rowan gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Pat Small is winning the standup battle so far.
Small lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Rowan - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Small!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Pat Small!
After winning the bout, Pat Small thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
In defeat, Samuel Rowan stepped up to the mic, saying 'fuck this mma shit! spinning shit and shit!'.
