Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Len Myers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Len Myers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Myers thows a body shot but no joy.
Myers with a lazy takedown attempt
and Velasquez counters with a right hand to the body.

Velasquez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Myers tries to land a knee to the head but Velasquez blocks with his arms.

Myers pulls guard effortlessly.
Velasquez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Myers really is a fat lump.
Let's hope that Velasquez has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Velasquez is looking to stand up but Myers won't let him.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Cain Velasquez wasn't active enough on the ground.
Myers goes for a double leg but Velasquez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Velasquez continues to drive forward.

Velasquez jumps guard.
Velasquez throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Myers wants to stand but Velasquez is controlling his posture from full guard.
Velasquez scores with a nice shot.
Velasquez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Velasquez controlling the position.
Myers pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Velasquez is keeping the position for now.

Velasquez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Myers gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Myers is looking to stand up but Velasquez won't let him.

Velasquez wants to sweep here but Myers controlling him for the moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Velasquez can do anything to dispel that myth.

Velasquez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Velasquez is striking from the bottom but Myers uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
Velasquez is controlling Myers's trapped leg to prevent Myers from advancing to side control.
Velasquez is looking to control Myers's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Velasquez avoid being mounted?

Myers is stalling here. Velasquez is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Myers seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Velasquez has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
You can see the frustration on Myers's face as Velasquez controls the position.
Velasquez tries to stand but Myers is controlling his head.
Velasquez cracks Myers with a big elbow.
Myers is being controlled here.

Velasquez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Myers, who protects the arm well.
Velasquez tries to advance to mount but Myers denies him.

Myers wants to control but Velasquez postures up.
Velasquez taking a breather here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Velasquez lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Myers down.
Myers is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Velasquez landing strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cain Velasquez dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A head kick misses from Velasquez.
Velasquez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Velasquez keeps the fight on the outside.
Len Myers is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Velasquez shoots in and bounces Myers off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Myers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Myers can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Velasquez controls the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Cain Velasquez.
Myers is looking to clinch but Velasquez is avoiding it.

Velasquez fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Myers to the ground. Velasquez is now in Myers's guard.
Myers keeping moving, preventing Velasquez from controlling successfully.
Myers looking for a sweep. Not yet Myers, not yet.
Velasquez with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Velasquez content to stall in guard here.

Velasquez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Myers dives on top into guard.

Velasquez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Myers is one step ahead there.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Velasquez is on top in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Myers has a closed guard, preventing Velasquez from standing up.

Velasquez is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Velasquez makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Velasquez trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Myers kicks Velasquez off and gets to his feet.

Velasquez drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Velasquez pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Myers is keeping the position for now.

Myers wants to stand up but Velasquez is controlling him.
Velasquez is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cain Velasquez has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Velasquez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Myers defends it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cain Velasquez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Myers shoots in but no luck this time.
Myers slips a jab and a cross from Velasquez.
Velasquez misses the shot to the body.
Velasquez throws a leg kick that is checked
and Myers counters with a head kick.
Myers fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Velasquez avoids it really well and circles away.
Velasquez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Myers defends it nicely.
Velasquez has a takedown stuffed.

That's one minute gone in the round.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Velasquez crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Myers - the referee stops the clock and Velasquez gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Myers. Velasquez manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Velasquez throws a leg kick but Myers moved away.
Myers slaps away a takedown attempt from Velasquez, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Len Myers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cain Velasquez.
Velasquez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Myers looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Velasquez moves into the clinch.
Velasquez wants to break the clinch but can't.

Velasquez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Myers uses from the top position.
Cain Velasquez has got the better of the ground game so far.
Velasquez controlling Myers's posture.
Myers has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Myers would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Myers fails with the takedown

and Velasquez counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Velasquez.

Myers tries for a takedown but Velasquez manages to get underhooks.
Myers has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Myers managing to block the knees to the body from Velasquez.

Myers jumps into guard, dragging Velasquez to the mat.
Velasquez seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Velasquez stands up over Myers, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Myers kicks Velasquez off and gets to his feet.

Velasquez clinches with his opponent.
Velasquez effectively controlling the action here.

Velasquez pulls guard effortlessly.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Velasquez has Myers pulled in close to control his posture.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cain Velasquez comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Velasquez winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
