Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Richard Small!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Bryan Dator!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Small drives through with a takedown into guard.
Small tries to free his leg and advance position but Dator is retaining full guard.
Dator working a defensive guard here.

Dator is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Small is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Small is looking to stand up but Dator won't let him.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dator can do anything to dispel that myth.

Dator is looking for a triangle but Small pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Small controlling from the top position.

Small tries to free his leg and advance position but Dator is retaining full guard.
Small trying to control but Dator is working from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Richard Small just wasn't active enough.

Dator closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Small is looking to regain half guard here but Dator keeps moving and retains side control.
Small is trying to control Dator's posture but Dator avoids it.
Small stuck in half guard on the bottom here.
Small manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Small seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

We're going to have a standup here because Richard Small wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Dator throws a wild body kick that Small sees coming a mile off.

Small has Dator up against the cage in a clinch.
Dator jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Small walks away with a smile on his face. Dator gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Small looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Dator!
The referee asks Small politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Small prefers to stall for the moment though.
Small's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Small is trying to get an arm triangle but Dator is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dator gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Dator keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Small looking to control but Dator is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Small looking to control and managing it successfully.
Dator holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Small tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Small looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Small tries to bum rush Dator with a series of wild strikes but Dator uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dator goes for a double leg but Small avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Small continues to drive forward.
Dator is trying to break the clinch but Small is controlling him.
Dator is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Small is defending well.
Dator has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Small after a bit of a struggle.
Richard Small has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bryan Dator.

Small has Dator pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Small pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Dator tumbling to the mat - Small dives into Dator's guard.

Small wants to work for an arm triangle but Dator is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Richard Small overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Dator tries to kick Small off but Small keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Dator is breathing heavily.

Small is trying to work for a kimura but Dator is defending well.

Small lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Small prevents Dator from getting the reversal.
Small sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Small thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Small avoids the attempt from Dator to control.
Small content just to control the position here.
Small trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Small working for a guillotine from mount but Dator is in no mood to give up.

Small throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Dator avoids a series of strikes thrown by Small.

Small wants to control the pace but Dator is squirming around nicely.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Small fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dator, pushing him back against the cage.
Dator tries to pull guard but Small won't allow it.
Dator tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Small smiles and moves away.

Small closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dator to the mat! Dator manages to get full guard.
Small stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dator swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Small wanted to stand there but Dator had control of the position.

Dator is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Dator takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Small thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Small wants to control from the top but Dator keeps moving.
Small missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Small postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Dator working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Small has passed into half guard!

Small passes to side control.
Small tries to stand but Dator is controlling his head.
Dator takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Dator is trying to escape the position but Small is controlling the position.
Small tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Small tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Small tries to stand but Dator is controlling his head.
Small is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Dator can do to turn this around?

Small working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Small wants to stand but Dator is controlling his arm.

Small misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Bryan Dator has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Richard Small is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Small wants to stand but Dator is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
