And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joe Nessan!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nessan jabs Sexton to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Sexton avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sexton is defended easily by Nessan.
Danga de danga de dang - Nessan scores with a four punch combination!


It looks like Christopher Sexton has been cut.

Nessan has taken the fight to the clinch.

Nessan breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sexton slips a jab and a cross from Nessan.
Nessan is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Sexton really is a fat lump.
Sexton throws a sloppy head kick and Nessan moves out of range easily.
Nessan throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sexton.

Nessan takes the fight into the clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sexton wants a takedown.

Sexton tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Nessan avoids it.
Sexton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nessan walks away with a smile on his face. Sexton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Christopher Sexton. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nessan forces Sexton back against the cage and clinches.
Nessan works on Sexton's body with a couple of short punches.

Nessan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nessan misses with the combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sexton circles away from the clinch attempt
and Sexton counters with a left to the body.
Sexton tries to clinch there but Nessan circles away.
Sexton closes the distance and clinches up with Nessan, looking for a takedown. Sexton pushes Nessan against the cage but Nessan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Nessan counters with a series of strikes that practically lifts Sexton off his feet! He tumbles backwards, his head bouncing off the mat - Nessan follows up with more strikes before the ref can step in but Sexton was out before he hit the floor.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Joe Nessan!
