PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron Damon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hitmon Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Damon comes to the cage accompanied by Dies Irae. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damon cracks a nice hook into Lee's ribs.
The fighters circling - Damon throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A left lands for Damon.
A slow jab from Lee misses its intended target.
Lee avoids the head kick by Damon.
Damon misses with a double jab.
Lee fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Damon throws a big shot that misses.
Damon lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lee backs up against the cage.

It looks like Hitmon Lee has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Damon stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Lee.
Lee moves into range and connects with a jab.
Good leg kick by Lee there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Good work by Damon as he checks the leg kick.
Lee feints and then cracks Damon's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Damon down.
Lee fails with the takedown.
Damon throws a jab but it's blocked by Lee.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lee ducks under a wild hook from Damon.
Damon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A jab lands there for Lee.
Damon punishes Lee's body with a nice straight punch.
Damon looks to land a left hand but Lee moved out of range nicely.
Damon uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Lee.
Lee lands a jab to the head.
Damon digs a good hook to Lee's body.
Damon gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Lee.
Damon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lee moves away.
Damon throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Lee counters with a nice double leg into side control. Damon won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Lee tries for a kimura but Damon is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Damon is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Lee asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Damon tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Lee easily slips into full mount!
Lee lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Damon wants to hold on but Lee pushes him away.
Lee has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Damon's face.

Damon holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Lee tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Damon is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Lee lands a big shot there that rocks Damon but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lee landing strikes from the mount and Damon is in trouble!
Damon is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
We've been hearing good reports from Damon's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Lee trying to control but Damon is having none of it.
Oh Damon is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Damon tries to lock up and control but Lee gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Damon seems to have got his legs back now.
Oooooh, big shot lands for Lee! Damon is hurt baaadly! Lee is firing away with more strikes - Damon is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
