The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Mies. Doyle does a little dance to reset his feet.
Mies tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Doyle fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mies should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Doyle tries to sprawl but Mies drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Mies perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Mies escapes and gets back to his feet.

Mies has closed the distance and engaged Doyle in a clinch.
Doyle is pressed up against the cage. Mies has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Doyle down to the mat. Doyle avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Mies tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Doyle throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mies's waist but Mies gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Doyle off to one side.

Doyle is working an open guard so Mies takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Mies shoots in looking for a takedown but Doyle manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mies's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Mies shoots in but Doyle avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Sonny Doyle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pit Mies.
Mies looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Doyle is fending him off so far but Mies persists. Nope, Doyle circles away and we're back to standing.
Doyle dives in for a single leg takedown but Mies sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Mies is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Doyle is aware though and is defending well.
Doyle wants to control from the top but Mies keeps moving.

Doyle got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mies has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Doyle has managed to get both his arms back between Mies's legs - danger averted.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mies is on top in guard.
Doyle is pulling down on Mies's head to control his posture.

Mies wants to control from the top but Doyle keeps moving.
Mies throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Doyle works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Mies gets to his feet - Doyle follows without any prompting.
Doyle really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Doyle is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mies sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Doyle looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Mies shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Mies wants to clinch up but Doyle keeps it at a distance.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Mies.
Doyle tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mies manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mies shoots in looking for a takedown but Doyle manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mies's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Doyle will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Doyle shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mies defends it nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Doyle tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Mies defends well and Doyle ends up having to push Mies into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A head kick misses from Mies.
Mies looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Doyle fails with a takedown attempt.

Mies has taken the fight to the clinch.

Mies pulls guard.
Mies doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Doyle stopping the sweep attempt from Mies.
Doyle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mies on the ground.
Mies manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Doyle manages to get himself to full guard.

Mies looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Doyle with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Well, if Mies is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Mies is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Doyle knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Mies is working Doyle over with some ground and pound from side control.

Mies stands up and beckons Doyle to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Doyle dives in and grabs Mies's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mies pushes down on Doyle's head and hops out.

Mies misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Mies shoots in and bounces Doyle off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Mies stands and steps away. Doyle gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The fight stays on the outside here - Doyle looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Doyle pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mies rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Doyle moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Mies closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Mies wants to lay and pray for a moment but Doyle keeps working.
Doyle tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mies wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mies decides to stand back up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Doyle tries to clinch but Mies moves out of range.

Mies throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Doyle tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mies is in Doyle's guard.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Mies lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

Doyle closes the distance and clinches.
Doyle is looking to control Mies's arms but Mies gets an underhook and turns him. Now Doyle has his back to the cage.

Mies is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Doyle is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Doyle slips a jab from Mies.
Doyle leaves Mies with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Doyle tries to bum rush Mies with a series of wild strikes but Mies uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Doyle connects with a right hand. Mies shakes it off.
Doyle shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mies sprawls well. Mies wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Doyle gets slowly back to his feet.

Doyle pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Horrible takedown by Doyle or perhaps it was just good defense by Mies which made him look bad.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Well Mies has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
