Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gary Hurley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and al Buddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). al Buddy has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Gary Hurley's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gary Hurley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, al Buddy!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buddy gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Hurley holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Buddy is trying to break the clinch but Hurley is controlling him.

Hurley has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Buddy regains guard immediately.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hurley is stalling in the full guard.
Hurley seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Buddy for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hurley trying to control but Buddy is working from the bottom.
Buddy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hurley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hurley engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

We're going to have a standup here because Gary Hurley wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Hurley darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Buddy avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hurley.
Buddy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Buddy trying to hold on to Hurley's head to control him but Hurley postures up.
Hurley wants to stand but Buddy has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Buddy has a hand on Hurley's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Hurley takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Hurley is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Buddy can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Hurley misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Hurley wants to control but Buddy has made it back to half guard. Nice work.
Hurley not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Hurley is keen to just control but Buddy is a slippery customer.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Buddy wants to get back to his feet.
Hurley wants to pass to mount but Buddy is defending the position.
Hurley could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hurley wants to get back to his feet.
Hurley is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Gary Hurley just wasn't active enough.

Buddy changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hurley looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Hurley rushes Buddy and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hurley can't find room to land a body shot as Buddy controls the action.
Hurley is trying to pull guard but Buddy turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Gary Hurley overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Hurley seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Buddy does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hurley drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Buddy throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hurley tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hurley stuffs the takedown attempt from Buddy. Buddy gets slowly back to his feet.
Hurley finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Horrible takedown by Buddy or perhaps it was just good defense by Hurley which made him look bad.
Buddy misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Buddy tries to clinch there but Hurley circles away.

Buddy has managed to clinch.

Hurley pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hurley throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Buddy tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hurley is in Buddy's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Buddy gets caught flat footed, as Hurley shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Buddy keeping moving, preventing Hurley from controlling successfully.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Buddy is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Gary Hurley has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Buddy is looking to clinch but Hurley is avoiding it.
Buddy misses with a jab, cross combination.
Gary Hurley is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hurley stuffs the takedown.

Hurley drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Hurley is pushing down on Buddy's leg trying to pass to half guard. Buddy is fighting to maintain full guard but Hurley has managed to sneak the leg through.
Hurley has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Hurley takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hurley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
