Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Romano Schoots (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuri Boyka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boyka has chosen Van Damme - Lion Heart (Final Fight) as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and Paul Tew.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boyka doesn't manage to clinch there - Schoots circles away.
Schoots misses with a body shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Boyka looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Schoots tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Boyka manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Schoots is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Boyka can't fight it off and eventually Schoots manages to take the fight to the floor. Boyka looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Schoots accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Boyka is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Schoots dives into side control.
Boyka felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Schoots fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Schoots tries to score with some ground and pound. Boyka controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Schoots wants to take a breather but Boyka manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Schoots.
Schoots is working Boyka over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Schoots will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Schoots stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Boyka swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I was talking to Schoots's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Schoots has Boyka pressed against the cage, preventing Boyka from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Schoots creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Boyka's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Boyka drops to his knees and Schoots pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
