PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Viljo Suokas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Metal Ripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Suokas comes into the arena with Limp Bizkit - Break stuff blaring out of the sound system. Ripper has chosen Sabaton - Metal ripper as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 23 - 1, fighting out of London, Viljo Suokas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Metal Ripper!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ripper throws a looping overhand right but Suokas ducks down to avoid it.
Ripper throws a sloppy head kick and Suokas moves out of range easily.
Ripper throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Suokas.
Ripper misses with a wild body shot.
Suokas misses with a straight right.
Suokas takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Ripper tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Suokas moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Suokas throws a lazy uppercut

and Ripper counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Ripper is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Ripper wants to take a breather but Suokas is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Suokas has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ripper is working away from the top position though.
Suokas is trying to stand back up but Ripper is controlling him

Ripper is trying to work for a kimura but Suokas is defending well.
Suokas tries to roll over but Ripper keeps him under control.
Ripper stalling away here and it's allowed Suokas to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Suokas keeping moving, preventing Ripper from controlling successfully.
Ripper works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Ripper trying to mount his opponent but Suokas defends it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Suokas wants to get back to his feet.
Suokas is refusing to be controlled, as Ripper sits in half guard.
Ripper takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Ripper seems to be working for a kimura but Suokas defends the submission attempt.
Suokas is refusing to be controlled, as Ripper sits in half guard.
Ripper seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Suokas moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Suokas keeping moving, preventing Ripper from controlling successfully.
Ripper stands and throws Suokas's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Ripper goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Suokas has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ripper but great work by Suokas.
Suokas tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ripper is looking to regain half guard here but Suokas keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Suokas lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Suokas is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ripper.

and Suokas counters with a slapping leg kick.
Suokas connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Suokas misses with a jab, cross combination.
Suokas misses with a two punch combination.
Suokas misses with a body kick.
Ripper misses with a wild body shot.
Ripper throws a left and a right that both miss
and Suokas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Suokas fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ripper.

Ripper throws a looping overhand right but Suokas ducks down to avoid it.
Suokas throws a jab but it's blocked by Ripper.
Suokas showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ripper.
Ripper uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Suokas.
Ripper jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Suokas avoids a punch combination nicely.
Suokas moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Suokas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ripper moves away.
Suokas thows a body shot but no joy.

Ripper lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Suokas circles away quickly and effectively.
Suokas misses with a looping left.
Suokas moves into range and connects with a jab.
Viljo Suokas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ripper looks to throw the jab but Suokas is out of range.
Ripper tries to clinch up.
Suokas throws a hook but Ripper blocks it.
Ripper misses with a combination

and Suokas counters by moving into the clinch.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Ripper tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Suokas smiles and moves away.

Suokas scores with a sloppy right hand. Ripper should have avoided that one.
Suokas throws a head kick but Ripper moves out of range.
A swing and a miss from Ripper.
Nice jab there from Ripper.
Ripper throws a nice looking combination but Suokas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Suokas lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Ripper throws a sloppy body shot

and Suokas counters by moving into the clinch.
Suokas with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Suokas has Ripper pushed against the cage.
Our sources have told us that Suokas has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
Suokas comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Ripper drops down looking for an ankle pick but Suokas pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ripper tries to bum rush Suokas with a series of wild strikes but Suokas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ripper throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Suokas's waist but Suokas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ripper off to one side.
Viljo Suokas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Metal Ripper.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ripper tries to clinch there but Suokas circles away.
Suokas takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ripper throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

That's time! Suokas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Ripper doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Nice uppercut lands for Ripper. That snapped Suokas's head back.
Ripper tries to grapple but his opponent circles
enabling Suokas to counter with a crisp jab.
Ripper misses the shot to the body.
Suokas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ripper manages to avoid it.
Ripper looks to land a left hand but Suokas moved out of range nicely.
Ripper ducks under a wild hook from Suokas.
Ripper takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Ripper throws a body punch but Suokas moves out of range.
Suokas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ripper.

Ripper takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Metal Ripper is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Suokas looks to throw the jab but Ripper is out of range.
Suokas misses with a hook. Ripper ducked under it nicely.

Ripper drops Suokas with a left and a right! Oh, Suokas is hurt - Ripper dives into side control looking to finish!

It looks like Viljo Suokas has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like Suokas is going to stand back up.
Ripper is trying to control but can't.
Ripper is looking to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Suokas lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Suokas throws a lazy uppercut
and Ripper counters with a three punch combo that has Suokas backing up. Suokas nods at Ripper to acknowledge the strikes.
Ripper throws a combination that misses
and Suokas counters with a slapping leg kick.

Ripper ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Suokas scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Some bone on bone action there as Suokas checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Suokas explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Suokas scores with a nice head shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ripper falls off balance throwing a combination
and Suokas counters with a nice uppercut.
Ripper throws a right and a left that Suokas avoids nicely.
Ripper swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Suokas makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Ripper takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Suokas connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Ripper lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Suokas with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

And that's the end of the fight!
Metal Ripper comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Ripper has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
