The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith moves into the clinch.
Mendoza tries to circle away but Smith has him pinned against the cage.
Smith has Mendoza pressed against the cage, preventing Mendoza from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Mendoza wants to break the clinch but can't.
Smith stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Mendoza gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Smith.
Smith dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Smith is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Mendoza on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Smith lands a hook to the side of the head.
Smith tries a body shot but Mendoza blocks it.
Smith has Mendoza pressed against the cage, preventing Mendoza from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Smith breaks from the clinch.
Mendoza moves into range and connects with a jab.
Zachary Mendoza is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Smith tries to clinch but Mendoza is having none of it.

Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Smith scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Mendoza wants to get back to his feet.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smith connects with a nice short shot to Mendoza's temple.
Mendoza is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Bloodsport Gym 16 Elites that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Smith lands a big elbow - Mendoza is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Smith!

A very excited looking Jimmy Smith rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
