Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Malcolm Christensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ray Cordero!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cordero wants to clinch up but Christensen keeps it at a distance.
Cordero pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cordero misses with a takedown
and Christensen counters with a nice low kick that buckles Cordero's knee momentarily.
Cordero throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Cordero drives through and clinches with Christensen against the cage.
Cordero tries to pull guard but Christensen won't allow it.
Cordero tries to score a body lock takedown but Christensen shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Malcolm Christensen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ray Cordero.
Christensen jumps guard but Cordero stands there with Christensen around his waist. Christensen gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Christensen is trying to force a seperation but Cordero has the dominant position.

Cordero really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Christensen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cordero is looking for a sweep. Christensen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Cordero is trying to control but can't.
Christensen wants to stand up but Cordero is controlling the position.
Cordero is looking to control Christensen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cordero avoid being mounted?

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Christensen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Cordero's waist but Cordero gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Christensen off to one side.

Cordero goes for a double leg but Christensen avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Christensen continues to drive forward.

Cordero fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Christensen avoids it really well and circles away.

Christensen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cordero tries to avoid it but Christensen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cordero to the ground. Cordero escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cordero lands with a kick to the temple. Christensen shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

Christensen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cordero is just riding it out for now. Christensen eventually gives up the hold.

That was a close second round but I would say that Malcolm Christensen will probably get the nod.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ray Cordero hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Christensen has Cordero pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Christensen pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cordero tumbling to the mat - Christensen dives into Cordero's guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Malcolm Christensen.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Christensen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
