Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronald Weirmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Josh Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ronald Weirmann!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Weirmann tries to close the distance and clinch but Wright swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
An inside leg kick from Weirmann misses.
Wright could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Weirmann has taken the fight to the clinch.
Weirmann can't break the clinch.

Wright tightens his grip and picks Weirmann up, before dumping him to the ground. Weirmann manages to land in guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Weirmann trying to control the position.

Weirmann working for submissions but it's allowed Wright to get to half guard.
Wright seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Weirmann is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Weirmann really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Wright. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wright not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Weirmann wants to get back to full guard.

Wright is trying to work for a kimura but Weirmann is defending well.
Wright frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Wright cracks Weirmann with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.


It looks like Ronald Weirmann has been cut.
Weirmann can't escape the position.
Wright will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Weirmann avoids a series of strikes thrown by Wright.
Wright lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wright controlling his opponent.
Weirmann is squirming around, avoiding Wright's attempts to control the action.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Wright cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!


The cut above Ronald Weirmann's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Ronald Weirmann's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Josh Wright!
