Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elmo Salty (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David McLain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Salty comes to the cage accompanied by Gonna Fly Now. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are James Glass, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salty throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Salty falls off balance throwing a combination
and McLain connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Salty throws a right and a left that both miss.
We've been told by Salty's head coaches at UMMA Gym Now with StandUP that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Salty pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces McLain back to the cage. Salty follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

It looks like David McLain has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Salty defending well as McLain loads up on a big left hand.
McLain motions for Salty to come forward. McLain throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

McLain throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Salty tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. McLain is in Salty's guard.
Salty wants to stand up but McLain is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Salty keeping full guard, as McLain tries to pass.
Salty is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Salty keeping moving, preventing McLain from controlling successfully.
McLain won't allow Salty to get back to his feet.
McLain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Salty swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Salty dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
McLain with a poor takedown
and Salty counters with a straight right hand.
McLain will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Salty lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Salty.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
McLain shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Salty as he jumps to the side.
Elmo Salty has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David McLain.
Salty throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McLain.

A swing and a miss from McLain.
McLain misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Salty swats away the attempt to clinch by McLain.
McLain closes this distance looking for a takedown but Salty circles away.
McLain looks winded!
Salty swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and Salty counters with a nice body shot.
Salty changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Salty throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McLain.

Oooooh!!! Salty has knocked McLain down with a huge combo! Salty steps away and waves a wobbly McLain back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

McLain is rocked!
McLain walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles McLain limp body while Salty jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Elmo Salty!
