The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Pit Mies seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mies looks for a takedown but Benson sprawls well.
Mies shoots in for a takedown but Benson shows good takedown defense.

Benson lands a high kick to the side of Mies's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Benson dives into guard, looking to finish.

It looks like Pit Mies has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mies pushes Benson off and scrambles back to his feet.
Mies fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Benson avoids it really well and circles away.

Benson moves in looking to clinch but Mies pushes him off.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Mies. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Benson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mies. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mies lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Mies has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Mies throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Benson has his hands clasped together but Mies breaks the hold and Benson is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Mies!
