Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lon Wells (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike DeVries (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike DeVries has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Lon Wells's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lon Wells!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike DeVries!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DeVries shoots in but Wells avoids the takedown attempt easily.

DeVries has closed the distance and engaged Wells in a clinch.
DeVries tries to break free but Wells pushes him back against the cage.
DeVries has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Wells pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wells throws a leg kick that is checked
and DeVries counters with an outside leg kick.
Wells fails with a takedown attempt.
Wells tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but DeVries defends well and Wells ends up having to push DeVries into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Wells pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
DeVries misses with a wild body shot.

Wells shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in DeVries's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DeVries is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
DeVries trying to keep a closed guard but Wells is proving a slippery customer.

Wells trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Wells trying to control the position from guard on top but DeVries is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
DeVries looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Wells loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Wells knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for DeVries on the ground.
DeVries is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Wells dives into side control.
Wells really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Wells controls the position.
DeVries tries to get back to half guard but can't.

DeVries gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
DeVries is looking to improve his position.
Wells seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Wells is trying to control the action in half guard but DeVries is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Wells controlling the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Lon Wells just wasn't active enough.
DeVries is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Nice takedown defense from Wells. No joy for DeVries on that attempt.
Wells fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lon Wells. That's going to take a lot out of him.
DeVries shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wells pinned against the cage. Wells gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Wells shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. DeVries is trying to defend but Wells finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Wells wants to control but DeVries is keeping him busy.
DeVries has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Wells is working away from the top position though.
DeVries gets back to full guard.
DeVries controls Wells momentarily but Wells frees himself.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
DeVries pulls Wells in to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lon Wells will probably get the nod.

DeVries is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
DeVries looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
DeVries tries to grapple but his opponent circles

so Wells counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Wells avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Wells not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
DeVries keeping moving, preventing Wells from controlling successfully.

Wells trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
DeVries trying to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Wells postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Wells trying to control the position from guard on top but DeVries is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wells stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. DeVries swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wells sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed DeVries's guard.

DeVries gets full guard.
Wells wants to pass the guard but DeVries is keeping the position.
DeVries is trying to keep Wells in close.

DeVries kicks Wells off and gets to his feet.
Wells throws a wild body kick that DeVries sees coming a mile off.
Wells tries a head kick but it misses.

DeVries darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

DeVries is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Wells has managed to free his arm - good work.
Lon Wells overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
DeVries is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Wells looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and DeVries pushes past his half guard into mount!
DeVries looking to control but Wells is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Wells reaches up to try and control the position but DeVries seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Wells rolls and tries to escape and now DeVries has his back!
Wells just trying to survive but DeVries is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

DeVries has got one arm under Wells's chin. This could be trouble... Wells trying to control the other hand but DeVries gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Wells has tapped out! The fight is over!
