Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lue Goose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexander Emelianenko!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Goose shoots and misses
and Emelianenko counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


It looks like Lue Goose has been cut.
Goose tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Emelianenko paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Emelianenko jabs at Goose's body.

Goose shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Goose showed some decent athleticism there.
Emelianenko keeping control of the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Emelianenko slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Goose looking to pass the guard.

Emelianenko working for a triangle but Goose defends it easily.

Goose thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Goose wants to pass the guard but Emelianenko is keeping the position.
We've been hearing that Goose has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Emelianenko had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Goose defends it easily.
Goose trying to control the position from guard on top but Emelianenko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Goose looking to pass the guard.
Goose wants to control from the top but Emelianenko keeps moving.
Goose pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Emelianenko is keeping the position for now.

Goose drops back looking for a leg! Emelianenko is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Emelianenko manages to kick Goose off! Goose jumps back into Emelianenko's guard.
Goose forces his way into half guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Goose looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Goose is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Emelianenko doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Goose.
Emelianenko is trying to get back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Goose wants to pass to mount but Emelianenko is defending the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Goose working the head and body with strikes.

Emelianenko is defending against the submission attempts here by Goose.

Goose is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Emelianenko gets full guard.
Emelianenko is trying to keep Goose in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Emelianenko is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Goose drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Goose jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Emelianenko looking to control.
Emelianenko bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Goose's guard.
Goose looking to hit a scissor sweep but Emelianenko is one step ahead there.
Goose manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Goose looking for a guillotine from mount but Emelianenko is having none of it.
Emelianenko is wriggling around trying to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Goose is trying to take his opponent's back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Lue Goose will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Lue Goose's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Goose takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Goose dives in for a single leg takedown but Emelianenko sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Emelianenko misses with a body punch.
Emelianenko goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Emelianenko stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Emelianenko is pressed up against the cage. Goose has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Emelianenko down to the mat. Emelianenko avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Emelianenko tests Goose's chin there with a solid looking shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Goose closes the distance and clinches up with Emelianenko, looking for a takedown. Goose pushes Emelianenko against the cage but Emelianenko circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lue Goose. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Goose drops his hands momentarily and Emelianenko takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Goose shoots in looking for a takedown. Emelianenko tries to sprawl out of it but Goose keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Emelianenko manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A thudding body kick lands there by Emelianenko!
Lue Goose is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Goose on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Emelianenko lands a jab to the head.
Goose dodges the punch combination from Emelianenko.
A jab lands there for Emelianenko.
Goose walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Emelianenko looks to land a combination but Goose avoids it well.
Emelianenko lands a nice hook to Goose's body. Goose takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Nice defenses there by Goose.
Alexander Emelianenko seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Goose walks into a straight right hand from Emelianenko.
Goose fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Emelianenko avoids it really well and circles away.
Emelianenko throws a hook but Goose avoids it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Emelianenko bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Emelianenko scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


Lue Goose's cut is getting worse.
Goose shoots in but Emelianenko avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Emelianenko has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Emelianenko scores with a shot to the body.
Emelianenko lands a nice shot that snaps Goose's head back.
Emelianenko ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Alexander Emelianenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Emelianenko drops Goose with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Goose! Emelianenko dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alexander Emelianenko!
Alexander Emelianenko seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
