The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downer moves in looking to clinch but Nexus pushes him off.
Nexus cracks Downer with a good jab.

Nexus fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Downer manages to avoid it.

Bentley Downer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Galaxy Nexus.

Downer lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Downer with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Our sources have told us that Downer has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
Nexus is looking to break free of the clinch but Downer has double underhooks.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Nexus shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Downer but Downer pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Nexus counters with a nice double leg into side control. Downer won't be happy with that.

Downer parries the strikes from Nexus easily there. Nexus is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Downer to escape.
Nexus tries to advance to mount but can't.
Downer on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Downer is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Downer is not content to let Nexus control the position.
Nexus tries to score with some ground and pound. Downer controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Nexus sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Downer is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Nexus has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nexus looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Downer covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
