Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Whitman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bobby Whitman told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bobby Whitman!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Josh West.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lee closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Whitman to the mat! Whitman manages to get full guard.
Lee tries to free his leg and advance position but Whitman is retaining full guard.
Whitman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lee with a flurry of punches that miss.
Lee is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Lee wants to control from the top but Whitman keeps moving.
Whitman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lee is one step ahead there.
Whitman trying to keep a closed guard but Lee is proving a slippery customer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Whitman throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lee sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Whitman pivots, looking for a leg kick but Lee is out of range and Whitman settles back down.

Lee shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Whitman counters with a nice uppercut.

and Whitman counters with a series of strikes that sends Lee to the canvas! Whitman follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Freddy Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Whitman thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Lee looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Whitman is looking to advance position but Lee has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Lee connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Lee fails to take his opponent's back.
Lee avoids the attempt from Whitman to control.
Lee has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Lee lands a heavy elbow.

It looks like Bobby Whitman has been cut.
Lee looking to control and managing it successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lee loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Whitman scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Lee land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Lee stands and salutes the crowd.

After winning the bout, Freddy Lee thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
Bobby Whitman was interviewed post fight and said 'Next time, I promise to take a hit of Angel Dust before stepping into the ring.'.
