Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cleveland Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Igor Koroviev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cleveland Cox had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Cleveland Cox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Koroviev!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Viktor Lagutenko and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Koroviev shoots in and drives through. Cox sprawls well.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Koroviev breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Koroviev fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Cox moves into the clinch.

Koroviev breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cox will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Cox tries to clinch up but Koroviev circles away and keeps his distance.

Cox is trying to pull guard but Koroviev has him pressed against the cage.

Koroviev pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cox closes the distance and clinches up with Koroviev, looking for a takedown. Cox pushes Koroviev against the cage but Koroviev circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Koroviev drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Cox tries to buck Koroviev off but Koroviev is having none of it.

Koroviev is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Cox to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Cox shrugs it off.

Koroviev jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Cox manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Cox avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Koroviev.
Cox is trying to get back to half guard.
Cox knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Koroviev on the ground.

Koroviev is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cox knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Koroviev in side control, throwing shots but Cox defends.

Koroviev goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cox rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Koroviev's guard! Nice work there by Cox!

Koroviev tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cox sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Koroviev somewhat.

Koroviev is striking off his back. Cox thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Igor Koroviev has got the better of the ground game so far.

Cox has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Koroviev is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cox defends well.

Koroviev is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Koroviev is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Koroviev stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Koroviev wants it to stay on the feet.
Cleveland Cox is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Igor Koroviev has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Cox tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Koroviev swivels and escapes.
Koroviev tries to close the distance and clinch but Cox swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Cox changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Koroviev tries to avoid it but Cox manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Koroviev to the ground. Koroviev escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cleveland Cox. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cox looks for a takedown but Koroviev sprawls well.
Koroviev shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cox as he avoids it easily.

and Cox counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Koroviev is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Igor Koroviev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Cox moves into the clinch.

Cox avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Koroviev escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cox gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Cox is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Koroviev is trying to hold Cox in close to prevent damage but Cox has managed to pass into half guard.

Koroviev tries to kick Cox off but Cox keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Koroviev takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The fighters are battling for position here. Koroviev manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Cox has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Koroviev is proving hard to escape from.
Koroviev manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Koroviev throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Cox keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Poor strikes thrown by Koroviev there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

The ground and pound from Koroviev seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Koroviev is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Cox can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Cox might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Koroviev lands a big shot there that rocks Cox but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Koroviev scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Koroviev prevents Cox from getting the reversal.
Cleveland Cox has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Igor Koroviev is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Koroviev takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
