Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tristan Coffey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Piruloko Martins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tristan Coffey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Piruloko Martins!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Felipe Paraventi and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Coffey drives through with a takedown into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Martins wants to stand up but Coffey is controlling him.
Martins looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Coffey puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Martins desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Coffey prevents Martins from improving his position.

Coffey wants to work for an arm triangle but Martins is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martins is trying to maintain the position but Coffey is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Coffey tries to pass the half guard into mount. Martins knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Coffey really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Coffey takes a kick to the side of the head.
Martins misses with a wild combination.

Coffey rushes Martins and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Coffey avoids a wild elbow strike from Martins.
Martins is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Coffey fails to pull guard.
Coffey wants a takedown but no success here.

Coffey wants the takedown. Martins is fighting it off but Coffey persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Martins's guard against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Martins moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Coffey drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Coffey jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Coffey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Martins has his hands on Coffey's head, controlling the position.

Coffey controls from within his opponent's guard.
Coffey seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Martins for as long as he can get away with.

Coffey lands a couple of elbows.
Martins working a defensive guard but Coffey passes into half guard.
Coffey is taking a breather. Martins says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Martins wants to improve his position but Coffey is controlling well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Martins is trying to control but Coffey manages to pass to mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Coffey forces Martins back against the cage and clinches.
Martins wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Coffey has him pressed against the cage.
Coffey is pressed up against the cage. Martins has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Coffey down to the mat. Coffey avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Coffey leaves Martins with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Coffey moves into the clinch.

Coffey pivots, looking for a leg kick but Martins is out of range and Coffey settles back down.

Coffey drops down looking for an ankle pick but Martins pulls his leg out and moves away.

Coffey closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Coffey lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Martins is looking for a sweep. Coffey is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Coffey gets to his feet - back to striking we go!

Coffey clinches.

Coffey turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Coffey manages to end up in side control.
Coffey wants to stand but Martins has his arm trapped.
Martins is trying to buck Coffey off.

Coffey stands up and beckons Martins to his feet.

Coffey moves into the clinch.

Martins tries to pull guard but Coffey won't allow it.

Coffey turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Martins looks to move to half guard but instead Coffey has passed into mount! Damn!
Coffey lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Martins hang on?

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Coffey has Martins flattened out and is raining down punches.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Martins wants to control but Coffey is keeping busy.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Coffey in particular looking to stall.
Coffey wants to pass the guard but Martins is defending well.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Coffey closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Martins quickly recovers to half guard.

Coffey scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Coffey is thwarting Martins's attempts to control the position.

Coffey tries to stand but can't do so whilst Martins controls his leg.
Coffey seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Tristan Coffey is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Coffey is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Coffey, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
