Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Avalon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eildon Heap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Avalon's entrance music is Harder Better Faster - Daft Punk. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, James Avalon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Eildon Heap!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Avalon misses.

Avalon gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Heap tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Avalon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Heap tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Avalon was well out of range. Poor timing from Heap.

Heap pushes Avalon up against the cage in a clinch.
Avalon lands a hook to the side of the head.
Heap misses with a hook to the ribs.
Avalon has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Heap is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Avalon wants to get back to striking at distance but Heap won't allow it.
Heap misses with an elbow strike.
Avalon tries to circle away but Heap has him pinned against the cage.

Avalon lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Heap backwards.

Heap throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Avalon is trying to pull guard but Heap turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Avalon has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Eildon Heap is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Heap tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Avalon manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Avalon throws a hook to the side of Heap's head but Heap sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Avalon misses with a head kick.
Avalon takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like James Avalon has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Heap has taken the fight to the clinch.
Avalon wants a takedown.
Avalon is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Heap to keep the fight standing.

Heap throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Avalon blocks it with crossed arms.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Heap just misses with a elbow thrown towards Avalon's brow.
Avalon has had enough of the clinch but Heap keeps him there for the moment.
Heap keeps control of Avalon as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Avalon is working for takedown but Heap is calmly controlling the position for now.

Heap lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Avalon backwards.
Avalon changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Heap fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Avalon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Heap looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Avalon misses with a takedown attempt - Heap sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Avalon closes the distance and pushes Heap back into the cage.
Avalon throws a head punch that misses.
Heap tries to throw a body punch but Avalon avoids it by throwing Heap back against the cage.
Heap has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. So far he's outscoring his opponent in the clinch so it seems to have been worthwhile.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Avalon lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Avalon drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Avalon breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Heap tries to clinch but Avalon is having none of it.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Heap tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Avalon counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Heap is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Avalon shoots in looking for a takedown. Heap tries to sprawl out of it but Avalon keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Heap manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Heap throws a predictable looking body shot

and Avalon counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Heap!
Heap is trying to control Avalon's posture but Avalon avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Heap prevents Avalon from moving into mount.
You can see the frustration on Heap's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Heap is not content to let Avalon control the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Avalon is trying to get an arm triangle but Heap is defending well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Avalon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Heap keeps working.

Avalon thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Avalon tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Avalon goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Heap rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Avalon's guard! Nice work there by Heap!

Avalon not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Avalon has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Heap can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Avalon pulls Heap in close to prevent any damage.
Avalon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Heap manages to get himself to full guard.

Avalon trying to control but Heap is working from the bottom.
Avalon is really struggling to control Heap but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Avalon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Avalon tries to free his leg and advance position but Heap is retaining full guard.
Heap really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Avalon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Avalon drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Heap dives on top into guard.

Avalon is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Heap has his hands clasped together but Avalon extends and breaks Heap's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Avalon.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). James Avalon!
