PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Slyker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eyedreamof Blackbelt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Slyker comes to the cage accompanied by Richard Wagner - Ride of the Valkyries. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cain Slyker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eyedreamof Blackbelt!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blackbelt blocks a jab.

Blackbelt decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Blackbelt with the ground and pound but Slyker uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Slyker keeping full guard, as Blackbelt tries to pass.

Blackbelt postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Slyker is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Blackbelt, into his guard.

Blackbelt working for a triangle but Slyker defends it easily.

Blackbelt is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Slyker has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Blackbelt is proving hard to escape from.

Blackbelt is looking for a triangle but Slyker pushes his legs off easily.
Slyker knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Blackbelt on the ground.
Blackbelt is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Blackbelt has a closed guard, preventing Slyker from standing up.
Slyker is standing up over Blackbelt. Blackbelt looks to escape but Slyker dives into side control.
Slyker is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Blackbelt's shoulder. That is not cool.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Slyker is working Blackbelt over with some ground and pound from side control.
Blackbelt is looking to reverse the position.
You can see the frustration on Blackbelt's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Slyker moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Blackbelt can't do much from the bottom here.
Slyker is chipping away with strikes.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A good leg kick by Slyker.
Slyker scores with a three punch combo!
Slyker throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Blackbelt avoids a kick to the body.

Blackbelt decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Blackbelt throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Blackbelt looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Blackbelt looks gassed!
Slyker wants to control but Blackbelt is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Slyker kicks off Blackbelt and gets to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Slyker clinches with his opponent.

Slyker manages to break the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cain Slyker dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Slyker is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Blackbelt.
A big right from Slyker misses.
Blackbelt shoots in but Slyker avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Slyker bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Slyker misses with a two punch combination.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Blackbelt.
The fighters circling - Slyker throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Blackbelt closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blackbelt not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Blackbelt seems to be working for a kimura but Slyker defends the submission attempt.

Blackbelt is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Slyker defends it well.
Blackbelt is breathing heavily.
Slyker is looking to escape.

Blackbelt is working for a submission of some sort.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Slyker is trying to stand.
Slyker wants to control but Blackbelt is keeping busy.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A slapping leg kick lands for Slyker.
Slyker scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Blackbelt doesn't seem bothered though.

Blackbelt with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Slyker to score with a decent uppercut.
Slyker throws a leg kick but Blackbelt checks it.
Slyker throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Blackbelt.
Blackbelt tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Slyker counters with a nice uppercut.
Blackbelt blocks a low kick nicely.
Slyker throws a right and a left that both miss.

Blackbelt with a poor takedown

and Slyker counters by clinching up.
Cain Slyker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eyedreamof Blackbelt.
Slyker wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Blackbelt tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Slyker just stands there and leans against the cage.
Slyker is stalling here.
Slyker lands on the inside with an uppercut.

Slyker escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Blackbelt with a lazy takedown attempt
enabling Slyker to counter with a crisp jab.
Blackbelt shoots and misses
and Slyker counters with a straight right hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Slyker misses with a jab, cross combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cain Slyker dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Blackbelt wants to clinch but Slyker slips to the side
enabling Slyker to counter with a crisp jab.
Blackbelt misses with a takedown
and Slyker counters with a straight right hand.
Slyker scoring well with a low kick there.
Slyker loads up on a big right hand but Blackbelt slips the punch.
Slyker misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Blackbelt avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Cain Slyker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Blackbelt fails with the takedown
and Slyker counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Blackbelt takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Slyker tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A jab from Slyker finds it's way through Blackbelt's defenses.
Nice defenses there by Blackbelt.
A decent looking cross lands there for Slyker.
Slyker throws a nice looking combination but Blackbelt bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Cain Slyker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Slyker finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Blackbelt shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Slyker counters by moving into the clinch.
Cain Slyker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Eyedreamof Blackbelt.
Blackbelt is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Blackbelt jumps guard but Slyker stands there with Blackbelt around his waist. Blackbelt gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Blackbelt tries for a takedown. No joy.
Cain Slyker is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Blackbelt fails to pull guard.
Slyker is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Slyker prevents the takedown attempt.

Slyker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cain Slyker is winning the standup battle so far.
Slyker bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Blackbelt's head.
Blackbelt doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Slyker counters with a good low kick that Blackbelt was not able to check.
Eyedreamof Blackbelt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Some bone on bone action there as Blackbelt checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Slyker misses with the combination.

Blackbelt shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Blackbelt stops Slyker from getting back to his feet.
Blackbelt wants to lay and pray for a moment but Slyker keeps working.
Slyker tries to kick Blackbelt off but Blackbelt keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Cain Slyker showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Slyker, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
