The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sever tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sexton sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sever somewhat.
Sexton is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Sever shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sexton napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Sever thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Sever is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sexton is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Sever tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sever has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Sexton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sever feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sever stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sexton swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sever is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sever drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Sever seems to have locked his on tight now - Sexton screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Sever, as he picks up the win!
