The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Martel avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rizzo Jr feints and then cracks Martel's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Martel down.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Martel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rizzo Jr had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Martel defends it easily.

Martel shoots for a double leg takedown but Rizzo Jr sprawls well. He's pushed Martel's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Martel jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Rizzo Jr walks away with a smile on his face. Martel gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
A punch lands to the side of Martel 's head but he takes it in his stride.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Martel tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Martel has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
