PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Glen Starner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zack Skyshriek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Skyshriek has chosen Moonlight Sonata as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Glen Starner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Zack Skyshriek!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Starner misses.
Skyshriek swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Skyshriek dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Starner. That did some damage!

Starner shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Starner showed some decent athleticism there.
Starner passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Skyshriek!

Starner has hold of Skyshriek's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Skyshriek manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Skyshriek regains half guard.

Skyshriek looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Starner is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Skyshriek defends it well.

Skyshriek actively working from the bottom here.

Skyshriek wants to improve his position but Starner is controlling well.

Skyshriek has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Starner is working away from the top position though.
Skyshriek is trying to get back to full guard.

Starner missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Skyshriek is looking to improve his position.
Skyshriek makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Skyshriek.
Skyshriek is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Starner pushes down on Skyshriek's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Skyshriek slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Starner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Skyshriek swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Starner wants to control from the top but Skyshriek keeps moving.

Skyshriek is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Starner is aware though and is defending well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Skyshriek looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Starner throwing strikes from guard but Skyshriek blocks nicely.
Starner working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Skyshriek's head.
Starner scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Skyshriek is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Starner defends well.
Starner throws a big right hand that misses.
Skyshriek managing to control the position.
Skyshriek lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Starner!
Skyshriek postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Starner looks a forlorn figure.
Starner regains half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Skyshriek wants to take a breather but Starner is having none of it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Starner looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Skyshriek is looking to take a break and control but Starner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Skyshriek tries to pass to full mount but Starner defends it.
Skyshriek is trying to control. Starner wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Skyshriek stalling away here and it's allowed Starner to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Starner is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Skyshriek has gone for a leg lock! Starner slips out almost immediately though and dives into Skyshriek's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Zack Skyshriek will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


No luck with that takedown attempt from Skyshriek.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Skyshriek has a couple of punches blocked by Starner.
Skyshriek looking to slow down the pace here.
Skyshriek misses with a punch to the body.
Starner swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Starner is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Skyshriek lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Starner decides to pull guard.
Skyshriek is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Starner looking for a sweep. Not yet Starner, not yet.
Skyshriek wants to control from the top but Starner keeps moving.

Starner has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Skyshriek doesn't defend quickly enough and Starner has managed to lock this one up! Can Skyshriek escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Starner on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Glen Starner!
During a confident post fight interview, Glen Starner thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
