PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Noah Bennet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mornington Crescent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bennet might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Unloco - Crashing. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Noah Bennet!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mornington Crescent!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crescent swats away the attempt to clinch by Bennet.
Crescent uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Bennet scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Crescent dives in and scores a takedown into Bennet's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Crescent throwing strikes but missing.
Crescent postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Crescent makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Crescent trying to control the position from guard on top but Bennet is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Crescent prevents Bennet from getting back to his feet.

Bennet manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Crescent manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Crescent not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Crescent looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Bennet puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Crescent is looking to improve his position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bennet connects with a nice short shot to Crescent's temple.
Crescent is pressing down on Bennet's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Bennet stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Crescent shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bennet's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Crescent pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bennet is keeping the position for now.
Crescent stands up over Bennet, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Crescent keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bennet's head.
Bennet striking off his back but it's not causing Crescent any problems.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Bennet tries to strike from the bottom.

Crescent is in close to Bennet's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Crescent has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bennet avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Bennet manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Crescent lands a right hook to the body.
Bennet throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Crescent fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bennet looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Bennet tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Crescent manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bennet connects with a high kick.

Crescent throws out a powerful jab.
Bennet throws a right hand that Crescent ducks under and follows up with a left that Crescent also avoids with ease.
Crescent misses the shot to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bennet moves out of range of the strikes.

Bennet clinches with his opponent.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Bennet.
Bennet tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Crescent smiles and moves away.
Bennet has been working on his balance at Demon's Elite Gym (9 Elite), so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Crescent.
Horrible takedown by Bennet or perhaps it was just good defense by Crescent which made him look bad.
Bennet uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Crescent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bennet misses with a jab, cross combination.

Crescent throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bennet was covering up waiting for the punch and Crescent finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Crescent pushes down on Bennet's leg and manages to get into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mornington Crescent dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Crescent misses with an uppercut. Bennet saw that one coming.
Crescent getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Bennet is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Crescent looks to score with a jab to the body but Bennet is just out of range.

Bennet tries to close the distance and clinch but Crescent swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Crescent misses with a hook. Bennet ducked under it nicely.
Noah Bennet is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Crescent drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Bennet shoots in for a takedown but Crescent shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bennet bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Bennet tries a head kick but it misses.
Bennet moves in looking to clinch but Crescent pushes him off.
Crescent keeps the fight on the outside.
Bennet tries to close the distance and clinch up but Crescent swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Crescent escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bennet gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Crescent is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Bennet loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Crescent looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Bennet has picked Crescent up and slammed him! Crescent can't keep hold of the triangle and Bennet manages to pass to side control!
Crescent is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Bennet's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Crescent makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Crescent.
Crescent utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Crescent is on top in guard.

Mornington Crescent showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Crescent throws a chopping leg kick but Bennet manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Crescent jabs Bennet to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Bennet dives in for a single leg takedown but Crescent sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.

Bennet fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Crescent lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Crescent goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Bennet tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Crescent turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Crescent manages to end up in side control.
Crescent creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Bennet sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Bennet is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Mornington Crescent has got the better of the ground game so far.
