Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jon Silva!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sexton tries to clinch up.
Sexton is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Silva shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Sexton defends it nicely.

Sexton fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Silva, pushing him back against the cage.

Silva breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sexton is looking to clinch.
Sexton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Silva is fending him off so far but Sexton persists. Nope, Silva circles away and we're back to standing.

Silva scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Silva landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sexton keeps working.

Silva is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Sexton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Silva is keen to just control but Sexton is a slippery customer.
Silva seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Sexton flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Sexton is bucking up trying to escape but Silva cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Sexton tries to hold on but Silva postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Silva sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Silva lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Sexton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sexton tries to lock up and control but Silva gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Silva is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Silva!
