PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arvo Laar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dmonray Flauta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Laar comes to the cage accompanied by some random 90's estonia dance song i found on youtube. Arvo Laar could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Dmonray Flauta's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arvo Laar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dmonray Flauta!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laar connects with a high kick.
Flauta is trying hard to land a takedown here. Laar sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Flauta moves out of range as Laar throws a body kick.
Flauta misses with a takedown attempt - Laar sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Laar throws a sloppy head kick and Flauta moves out of range easily.
Flauta tries to score a power double leg takedown but Laar sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Flauta somewhat.
Arvo Laar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dmonray Flauta.
Flauta shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Laar as he jumps to the side.
Flauta has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Laar.
Flauta dodges the punch combination from Laar.
Flauta moves out of range as Laar throws a body kick.
Laar misses with a body kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Flauta keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Crunch! Laar slams his shin into Flauta's torso.
Flauta's coach down at Demon's Elite Gym (9 Elite) was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Flauta's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Laar lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Flauta at a distance.
Flauta on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Laar. Laar obviously looking to wear him down.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Flauta lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Laar has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Laar and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Arvo Laar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Flauta shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Flauta was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Laar tries to bench press Flauta off him but Flauta keeps the position.
Flauta throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Laar tries to improve position but can't.
Laar on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Laar is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Flauta throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Check out the look on Flauta's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Flauta scoring with punches and elbows.
Flauta lands a nice forearm strike.
Laar is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Flauta lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Laar down.
Flauta has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Flauta grinds an elbow into Laar's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Laar is looking for a sweep.

Flauta looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Flauta lands an elbow.
Laar tries to bench press Flauta off him but Flauta keeps the position.
Laar trying to remain calm as Flauta controls from the top position.
Laar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Flauta on the ground.
Flauta working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Laar being controlled for a moment.
Laar tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Flauta is looking to take a break and control but Laar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Laar is looking for a sweep.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Flauta is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Laar is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Laar is pushing Flauta's head away, looking to escape. Flauta manages to hold on to the position though.
Flauta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Laar keeps working.
Laar is trying to escape the position but Flauta is controlling the position.
Laar tries to improve position but can't.
Laar gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Flauta is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Laar can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Flauta postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Laar looks a forlorn figure.
Flauta cracks Laar with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Laar regains half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Laar is looking to escape.
Flauta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Laar keeps working.

Flauta is working for a submission of some sort.
Flauta stalling away here and it's allowed Laar to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Laar looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Laar wants to stand but Flauta is controlling the position.
Flauta postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Flauta working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dmonray Flauta dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Laar throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Laar tries a head kick but it misses.

Flauta darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Laar blocking the ground and pound attempt from Flauta.
Laar is trying to stand back up but Flauta is controlling him

Laar has hold of Flauta's hands but Flauta slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Flauta is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Laar defends it well.
Laar tries to roll over but Flauta keeps him under control.
Dmonray Flauta has got the better of the ground game so far.

Flauta lands strikes from half guard.
Laar is trying to maintain the position but Flauta is very close to passing his half guard.
Laar tries to get to full guard but Flauta has control of the leg.
Laar regains full guard. Nicely done.
Flauta lands a couple of digs.
Flauta lands a couple of elbows.
Flauta trying to control the position from guard on top but Laar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Flauta passes Laar's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Flauta is nestled in close to Laar, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Laar tries to kick Flauta off but Flauta keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Flauta drops an elbow to the side of Laar's head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Flauta scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Flauta lands a nice short elbow.

Flauta maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Laar could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Flauta has cracked it and Laar is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Flauta!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dmonray Flauta!
A very excited looking Dmonray Flauta rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
