Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Homer Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Konrad Kurze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Simpson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Simpson uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Simpson throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Kurze fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kurze throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Kurze lands with a shot to the body.
Kurze smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Simpson throws a leg kick
and Kurze counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Simpson's guard now.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Kurze working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Simpson's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kurze throws a strike but Simpson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Kurze wants to sweep here but Simpson controlling him for the moment.

Kurze felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Simpson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Kurze closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Simpson to the mat! Simpson manages to get full guard.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Kurze crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Simpson - the referee stops the clock and Kurze gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Simpson. Kurze manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Kurze scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Simpson doesn't seem bothered though.

Kurze shoots in looking for a takedown. Simpson tries to sprawl out of it but Kurze keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Simpson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Homer Simpson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Konrad Kurze.
Kurze shoots in for a double leg but Simpson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kurze connects with a nice short shot to Simpson's temple.
Kurze has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kurze is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Simpson has hold of Kurze's hands but Kurze slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Simpson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Simpson scores with the left hand. Kurze knows he should have avoided that one.

Kurze postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Kurze has a hand on Simpson's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Simpson takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Simpson fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kurze looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Kurze creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kurze is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Simpson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

I would just about give that final round to Konrad Kurze.
I think Kurze has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
