The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mygueel is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mccullough sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Mccullough wants to clinch.
Mygueel lands with a slapping head kick.
Mccullough shoots in for a takedown but Mygueel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Mygueel bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Mygueel tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mygueel has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Mygueel throws an elbow but Mccullough slips to the side and avoids it well.
Mccullough pushes Mygueel away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mygueel gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Mccullough.
Mccullough fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Mygueel is out of range.

Mygueel tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mccullough sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mygueel somewhat.

Mygueel shoots in looking for a takedown. Mccullough tries to sprawl out of it but Mygueel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mccullough manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jeromy Mccullough has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcello Mygueel.

Mygueel feints and as Mccullough raises his hands in defense, Mygueel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mccullough drops back looking for a leg! Mygueel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mygueel manages to kick Mccullough off! Mccullough jumps back into Mygueel's guard.
Mygueel seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Mygueel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Mygueel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mygueel lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Mccullough shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mygueel sprawls well. Mygueel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mccullough gets slowly back to his feet.
